“A Merciful Healing at the House of Mercy”

John 5:1-9

Proposition:  The mercy of Christ in our lives is seen in His merciful healing at the pool known as Bethesda.

Transition:  From our text, I want you to consider the awesome, merciful healing of Christ in both this man’s life and ours from 3 perspectives.

I.  Consider the Man’s Situation (vv. 3,5,7).

            A.  He is an Invalid (vv. 3,5).

       B.  He is Looking to Man for Healing (v. 7).

            C.  He has Lost Hope (vv. 6-7).

II.  Consider the Messiah’s Sovereignty (vv. 1,6).

            A.  He Comes to Us (vv. 1,6).

       B.  He Knows Us (v. 6a).

       C.  He has Compassion for Us (v. 6).

III.  Consider the Merciful Solution (vv. 8,9).

      A.     Christ Calls Us (v. 8).

      B.     Christ Heals Us (v. 9a).

      C.     We Obey Him (v. 9b).
