"The Stewardship of Grace": Sermon Outline for October 17, 2010

For those who have an interest, here is the outline of the message I preached yesterday.  This was a very difficult message for me to preach.  Perhaps you noticed how much I moved around on the platform during the sermon.  God was using my own words to step on my toes!  Each of us often fail to use the spiritual/grace gift God has given to us from time to time and, as a result, we let down the body of Christ rather than building up the body.  We also fail to glorify our Lord and present Him properly to the lost around us.  Thank goodness our Lord is a merciful and gracious God who forgives us. 

So, let us repent and move forward in serving Christ!

“The Stewardship of Grace”

1 Peter 4:7-11

Proposition:  Believers, you and I are to be stewards of God’s grace.

Transition:  In this passage, Peter provides us with 3 key concepts we must grasp concerning our stewardship of grace.

I.  Understand the Manifestation of this Grace (v. 10)

A.  God’s Grace is Revealed in Gifts

B.  Believers Receive Gifts

C.  These Gifts are Diverse

II.  Understand the Management of this Grace (vv. 10-11a)

A.  Stewards are to Use the Gifts

B.  Stewards are to Use the Gifts to Serve

C.  Stewards are to Use the Gifts to Serve

     Each Other

D.  Stewards are to Use the Gifts

     Properly

E.  Stewards are to Improve the Gifts

III.  Understand the Mission of this Grace (v. 11b)

A.  We are to Bring Glory to God.

B.  We are to Bring Glory to God through

      Jesus Christ.
