"The5 Proofs": A Sermon Outline for Sunday, January 16, 2011

“The 5 Proofs”
John 5:19-23

Proposition:  The Jews then and many today reject and rebel against the clearly stated Biblical truth:  Jesus is God.

Transition:  Jesus confronts his opponents by presenting 5 proofs of His deity in our text this morning.

I.  He is Equal to the Father in Works (vv. 19-20)
A,  The Father’s Will is His Will
            B.  The Father’s Knowledge is His Knowledge

II.  He is Equal to the Father in Power (vv. 19, 21)
            A.  He has the Same Power (v. 19)
       B.  He has Power to Raise the Dead (v. 21)

III.  He is Equal to the Father in Sovereignty (v. 21b)

IV.  He is Equal to the Father in Judgment (v. 22)

V.  He is Equal to the Father in Honor (v. 23)
            A.  All May Honor the Son as They Honor the Father
            B.  Failure to Honor the Son Dishonors the Father.
